The right color on the right piece has the ability to enhance itself. Sometimes it is unnecessary to find several different pieces with same or a similar color to emphasize the focal point:
Confession: Every Thanksgiving, I go house to house strictly for food. Throughout the day on Thanksgiving, I take my appetite on tour. Friends, relatives, associates, and co-workers…no one is off limits…and there is no tour date I will not honor on Thanksgiving. Today, the “Thanksgiving Tour” started early with a Thanksgiving Lucheon at my daughter’s school. Not only did I find this as a time to celebrate the holiday early, but I also saw an opportunity for daddy/daughter dress up…thanks to my good friend “Ralph”:
Saddle shoes by Ralph Lauren.
Gold socks by J.Crew.
Stripe silk bow tie by Ralph Lauren. Blue herringbone spread collar dress shirt is also by Ralph Lauren.
The gentlemen and the lady are in everything Ralph Lauren.
All of this gloomy weather has inspired me to have fun with colors that are “no fun”…such as the color brown:
Brown wingtip loafers with tassels by Florsheim is a thrifting find. Loafer socks (unseen) are by Steve Madden.
Gold knitted knot is by Brooks Brothers.
Tan flat front chino is by J.Crew. Brown sport coat with notch lapels, two button closure, rear center vent, patch pockets, and full interior lining is a thrifting find.
It has been awhile since I have broken out the saddle shoes. I know it seems like I have abandoned them for the spectator shoe…but I haven’t. The saddle shoe is still one of my favs:
Navy and bone saddle shoe by Ralph Lauren.
Blue polka dot socks are by Club Room.
Silk navy stripe bow tie is by Ralph Lauren. Light blue spread collar dress shirt is by Banana Republic. Navy pinstripe vest is a thrifting find.
White lapel floor is from a boutique on the campus of UNC Greensboro.
Light grey flat trousers are by Kenneth Cole.
Today, I went bold in difference sense. I took three different classic color combination and combined them to make up one look. It’s daring:
Wingtip kilti loafers with tassels by Cole Haan are a thrifting find.
Salmon argyle socks are by Brooks Brothers.
Green and white stripe flat front trousers are by Ralph Lauren. Belt is also by Ralph Lauren.
Silk blue and gold stripe bow tie is by Ralph Lauren. Light blue dress shirt with the white contrast collar by Nautica is a thrifting find. Vintage navy cardigan is IZOD Lacoste, a purchase from Ingram Vintage in Atlanta, Ga.
I love patterned dress shirts…and spring is the perfect time of year to showcase your vast array of colors and patterns:
Brown double monk strap wingtipbs by Magnanni.
Socks are by Ralph Lauren.
Patterned dress shirt with spread collar is by Banana Republic.
100% Silk bow tie is by Ralph Lauren.
White silk pocket square is by Banana Republic.
Tan suit that features notch lapels, two button closure, side vents, flap pockets, and full interior lining is by Tommy Hilfiger.
Today, I closed the week out with another double-breasted look. However, this look has a vintage approach to it:

Cream and navy chalk stripe trousers by Ralph Lauren.
Gold spread collar gingham dress shirt is by Burberry.
Navy striped tie by Ralph Lauren is a thrifting find.
