Vintage Double-Breasted Coats

Today’s big thrifting finds were a pair of vintage double-breasted over coats.

The first one is a glen plaid double-breasted long coat.  The tag suggest that the coat is a size 42 but it fits my 38 chest very well.  There is absolutely no need to have it taken in around the torso area.  However, I may do some slight alteration work to change the buttons and reduce the length of the back center vent, which is extremely high.

Here is a close up of the pattern and the buttons on the coat.  The color combination is a dark red, black, gold, and cream.

The second find is a tweed double-breasted herringbone, window pane over coat with a touch of speckled pattern.  The size is listed as a 40 but this one fits fine, also.  I doubt if I change any aspect of this coat.

Close up of the pattern and buttons.  Color combination consists of brown, tan, orange (window pane), and red speckles.

I found each coat for the low low price of $14 a piece.  Please join me and give a warm welcome to the two latest additions to me eclectic closet.

saw these two on Andre 3000 and John Legend…

…but they are close enough.  Nevertheless, the hunt continues!!
